Kerry Badminton Association recently held a successful "Give Badminton a Go" week, inviting people of all abilities to experience the sport at their local clubs. The Annascaul, Ballyheigue, Brosna, Kingdom-Castleisland, Listowel, Killarney, Moyvane & Tralee clubs all opened their doors for a dedicated day of free sessions, welcoming newcomers and encouraging returning players to get involved once again.
The initiative aimed to showcase badminton as a fun, fast, and inclusive sport suitable for everyone. Participants had the opportunity to try out the game in a relaxed, friendly setting while meeting existing members of their local club.
Feedback from the week was overwhelmingly positive, with new players commenting on how enjoyable and accessible the sport was. Club officials noted a strong sense of community spirit, with many clubs reporting a steady stream of enthusiastic participants who were eager to learn new skills.
Kerry Badminton representatives expressed delight at the turnout and the energy shown throughout the week. By offering a chance for people to pick up a racket for the first time or to rediscover their love for the game, the event has already sparked interest in future sessions and memberships across the county.
The organisation hopes the success of this year’s campaign will continue to build momentum for badminton in Kerry, strengthening club numbers and introducing more people to the sport. As one participant put it, “Badminton is great fun, and this week was the perfect way to get started.”
